After several months of planning, I finally made it back to San Diego. I still had a voucher from the Sofie Hotel that needed to be used so this was an excuse for a weekend getaway after returning from my trip to Italy. It was a break from my jam packed summer holiday of travels.
San Diego has become a popular destination. So as you can imagine, there is a lot of traffic. From the Orange County (OC) area, it used to only take about 1.5 hours each way. Not anymore! So, driving to San Diego needs a lot of strategic planning. With traffic being so unpredictable, hitting some spots along the way would be a good idea to ease that driving frustration. The first stop is beautiful San Clemente Pier. Not quite the halfway point from Orange County (OC) to San Diego, San Clemente is a perfect stop to grab a snack and enjoy the beautiful coastal views. My favorite here, is the ice cream shop.
For breakfast or lunch, you can stop by at the Fisherman’s Restaurant and Bar right on the pier. This is where you can get a nice view of the local surfers below while dining and enjoying the California sunshine.
